On April 27th I got a diagnosis of DCIS breast cancer. Not great but not tragic. Prognosis is excellent. I am keeping this blog for a few reasons:
1) It’s an easy way to keep you updated. You can read as little or as much as you want and I can take a nap.
2) Writing is therapeutic for me.
3) ‘Cancer is a word, not a sentence’. My sweet Mom died of breast cancer when she was only 39 but that’s not my story. Medicine has come a very long way. I’d like to normalize the illness in my own small way.

Maggie – I vow to hold you in my heart and surround you with love, healing, and happy thoughts.
Now, go kick this cancer’s ass.

Maggie! I just randomly checked in on your facebook page and found this. Ach. I’m sorry you have to deal with this but I am so glad you’re being so positive… you always write your own story.
Yeah – kick ass!
